Current changes require me to let you how any information you provide me with is managed and protected, and why it is collected.

Gaining your consent

At assessment you will be informed how the information you supply will be used, stored and protected. I will also discuss how it may be necessary to share this information and why I may need to. For example, if I am legally compelled to do so by a court of law; if you or anyone you tell me about is at risk of harm so that they may be protected.

In the unfortunate event that I become incapacitated or die, I have appointed a Clinical Executor who will get in contact with you at that time. My Clinical Executor abides by BACP’s Ethical Framework and has a privacy policy. Any client contact details with be treated in confidence at that time by my Clinical Executor. I will discuss this further and answer any concerns at assessment.

If you do not want your information shared, you can say so.

Information collected

Once you decide you wish to work with me, you will be asked to complete a form at assessment which includes sensitive personal information, any counselling experience/expectations and GP details. This information may be used to respond to any enquiries you make, create a contract between us, provide helpful links (if requested), contact you regarding sessions and feedback, or meet statutory obligations, (insurers or professional bodies).

Any information you provide is confidential, except when I have a professional or legal obligation to share it (as outlined above) or in circumstances where you authorise it to be shared. Your information is stored securely. Any information held by me is securely destroyed in accordance with the minimum time period stated by legal and professional regulators including my insurance company.

The transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure and whilst I endeavour to protect your personal data, the security of information transmitted to this site or via email, text or voicemail messages cannot be guaranteed. Any personal information you send is at your own risk.

You can request access to the information held about you. Any requests for your information to be accessed, shared, amended, or deleted must be in writing.
